Great stuff, Tom! I’m still not quite sure where I land on talk therapy. CBT has never worked sustainably for me in the past, but then I often wonder that’s more a reflection of an insufficient level of engagement with it on my side. This is entirely anecdotal, but it feels like we are beginning to see a bit of marginal pushback against the 2010s idea that everyone should be going to therapy. I don’t know enough about it to have a view on whether this is a good or a bad thing…
Thanks mate- I think it "works" on the margin. And is better than nothing. But my own experience was useless. And indeed echoed Brett Andersen's comments in his lecture series that for a "creative illness", as I believe mine was, psychiatry can make it worse (it did). My general view is a lot of this stuff is below the iceberg.
Great post, Tom. Are you able to share the source of where you found Renaissance's track record of 60+% per year?
Thanks Jack- I got it here: https://ofdollarsanddata.com/medallion-fund/
Much appreciated. What an insane performance.
You are a prolific writer Tom. Please keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, I'd rather be good than prolific, but if I can only manage one...
Michael Garfield was on the Jim Rutt show recently, pretty good episode
Cheers Chris- will check it out!

Amazing piece.
Thanks mate. You probably know how it feels to hate everything you write within 2 weeks of publishing it. Maybe this one will make it past 3 weeks ;)
