Thank you, Tom, for highlighting these broader patterns. While each of us is unique, it’s often in our shared experiences that we find a sense of belonging.
Thank you Tom. I found this very helpful and inspiring like a North Star in my personal journey. My own journey has taken me into the abyss twice. Looking to continue to ignite that sparkle in my eyes.
Thank you, Monty! And I really hope the abyss was a source of wisdom as well as suffering. I know how it feels, and don’t wish it on anyone despite knowing how formative it can be.
What a great summary of your terrific and thought provoking work Tom. Thanks!
My two bits:
1. This could be 18-36-54. With the period between 36 and 54 being utilized to forget all the propaganda we’ve been taught in our families ,schools, churches and jobs.
2. Darwinism and atheism aren’t the same thing. Appreciation of the rise of Homo sapiens over millions of years from the savanna on the third rock from the sun is a very spiritual endeavour.
3. Brave of you to acknowledge there are differences between men & women. It’s a viewpoint that should never have gone out of style. And a tip of the hat to Iain McGilchrist for the left hemisphere-right hemisphere idea.
4. “An unhealthy obsession with health” is a terrific turn of phrase about some post Covid insanity. We’d all be better if we just decided to take better care of our bodies than we do of our cars.
5. Knowing we wear many masks is the first step to shedding them so we can look in the mirror and see who we really are.
6. Morgan Housel wrote an insightful book called “The psychology of money”. Beware of zero sum status games. Especially those invoking money.
7. You’re never alone or bored if you carry a harmonica in yer pocket.
Wow, Tom! Deep gratitude for this gift of truly helpful life insights. A thoughtfully written, concise piece. I appreciated your attending to McGilchrist’s hemispheric brain model. Sharing widely with those I care about. Thank you.
It’s very flattering when someone who is both a great writer and who has exposure to so much wisdom writes a comment like this. Thank you as always, William.
Hi- great post. Do you think that Transrational thinking and right Brian integration are one and the same (two names, same concept)or at least correlated?
Thank you. The ability to sense subtlety is so well practiced/taught in the Feldenkrais Method - which heightens awareness for the vital process of unlearning/re-learning.

10. Don’t compete. Don’t complain. Don’t compete. And FFS don’t conform!
Thanks a lot for your thoughts Brett, bg fan of Morgan's work especially!
💥Existential nuke sounds about right 😆
🤝
Hey, there’s two #9s here! Bonus for us. Great stuff.
Dude, you’re only the second person to notice. Imagine when I was in jobs that required an eye for detail….
I spent more than a minute trying to figure out if you did that on purpose 😂
YES I TOTALLY DID IT ON PURPOSE YOU’RE RIGHT
Beautifully written.
Thanks Logan!
Love these reflections, Tom. Thanks for sharing. You’ve put words to many of the things I’ve seen in my conversations as well.
Glad to hear it: I only know what my own experience had shown me.

Don’t disagree.
I think closely related. And it’s most valuable when you’re stuck.
The world is stuck….
Money is an association for a claim on others’ future time.

Great tip thanks
Nailed it! 10 out of 10!
Until people notice that actually I misnumbered them and it’s 11 not 10
