I do wonder how much we need to blame Hollywood though for misrepresenting what marriage is about - marriage (to me) is an agreement to form an alliance under the specific conditions that 1 + 1 = 3 for the next 50 years. Unfortunately, too many of us believe it to be about physical attraction and status (although they have their roles). I feel a better framing of marriage in society would lead to far better results.
I totally agree. The way I’ve heard it described is the difference between romantic love and mature love. If you can still imagine the person you’re with with absolutely no romantic love and only mature love you might have a shot. But that’s a hard simulation to run when your head over heels. It’s even harder. I guess they’re a very few representations of mature love in what we consume.
