Goddesses also play an important role in both Hindu and Buddhist tantra, something I've written a bit about on my stack and hope to more in the future. In fact, I'll be attending a Red Tara empowerment next week, so this one is good timing for me.
I am intrigued by the behavior of cymatics and perhaps the phenomena mirrors the potential evolutionary function of altered states of consciousness that present clinically as psychosis. Perhaps a necessary dissolution for something new to emerge, but without a proper “chrysalis” to transform, the process is thoroughly traumatic or halted completely. This is my first time learning of cymatics - the timing is perfect as I’ve been drawn further into exploring the yoga of sound, chanting, and yantras….I think of them as something like the original QR code, which appears meaningless without the proper hardware. I’m curious what woo rating they would earn!
Thank you, Tom, for a very well-presented post, and it is something I have been living with for the last fourteen years or more. Have you considered the meaning of life and why you are here, living in a chaotic world, and why you have come to live in this chaos?
The human mind is the orchestrator of this chaos, regardless of the hemisphere the mind is leaning towards. The mind in its true state is a navigator, in particular when aligned with the Spirit that lives within the body! What then is this Spirit that seems so elusive and distant? Yet, it is more real and permanent than the body of flesh it abides within.
The truth of the being of flesh is its relationship with the Spirit within it, because the Spirit has come to serve a purpose for its temporary stay in this world.
Thanks for recommending my short story which was inspired by your Portugal trip!
Well, another interesting thing happened to me when I first moved to Portugal. I was a PR manager with a band in a small town called Aveiro. While we were touring around and I was on drug and in a deep relaxed state. I took my drummer’s sticks and started to play drum for a couple of hours and jamed perfectly with the rest of the band. Before that I never played drum but it turned out I was very good at that when I was in the zone 😂 I still couldn’t explain that. The frequency and rhythm was just there and I was following it. Bazaar.
The Divine Goddess fascinates me - and the most profound insights I've had from in person conversations around "faith" have all come women. Although, strangely, they seem to be missing from Substack.
And you do. More of a general observation which is interesting given how many of the earliest and most important Mystics were women. I'm sure they will emerge.
A really lovely exploration here. Appreciate you continuing to be on the leading edge (pun intended). I’m very interested in this mystery school creation, particularly in the sphere of men and connection, to themselves and others, outside of the typical confines of sports or drinking. I’m also curious how to maintain connection to the traditions while also innovating and curating a new path forward. Look forward to checking out Rabin’s pod. Thanks for the rec.
I’ve had two vivid experiences with music where I felt like I ‘touched’ something beyond my mind - and I’m very right brained and disconnected as a person. Once was a choir singing medieval music in Falmouth Castle one Xmas, then at a rave after taking MDMA I felt like I was ‘one with the crowd’ rising above them but with them. Hans Zimmers music in Interstellar makes me feel anything is possible - genius.
Weird, I was literally just watching a series of the best shots from interstellar. I wish I could say I’ve had more of those moments, but they are few and far between. I find that DJing is my new midlife crisis hobby though.
Have you listened to The Emerald podcast "For the Divine Mother of the Universe" yet? Joshua is brilliant at mixing sound and story in a way that really evokes the divine feminine/anima mundi... https://www.themythicbody.com/podcast/for-divine-mother-of-universe-remixed-reissued/

Think I need to re-listen to it. Im not into every one he does, but this week’s was something special.
The one about birds is really spectacular 🕊️

Yeah and the “higher frequency is more complex” thing is really playing on my mind too.

Thanks Frederick! I try to make sure the searching lands back in our lives from time to time. Otherwise rabbit holes can just lead to more darkness.

Whaaaat. Dude you’re so tapped in. Clearly some kind of Taoist wizard/priestess.

Not enough female voices here. Appreciate I’m not helping the problem, but I do try and amplify them.

Love that for you! Just added that Max Richter song to the list for a future 5Rhythms journey. Strings take me far 🚀
